Buddhist Swasktika Prayer
Men walk passed a golden Buddhist swastika while praying at the Botataung Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar on Sunday, March 18, 2018. An ancient symbol of the pacifist footsteps of the Buddha, the Buddhist swastika has been compared to the Nazi swastika recently, after international aid organizations called the Myanmar Buddhist government's military attacks on it's ethnic Rohingya population a genocide.
Myanmar's violent scorched earth campaign in Rakhine state has targeted and pushed nearly one million Rohingya men, women and children from their villages to refugee camps in Bangladesh. It has been compared to the manner in which the German Nazi party targeted European Jews in the 1930s and 40s.
